Domain Branding and Domain Name Brands_DOMAIN NAMES

Alot of times I have people asking me “What do you think would be a great brand for my website?”, they then give me a wide array of domains such as: Pleskia.com, Darus.com, Sallsy.com. While these may sound great and you see some corporate giants with brandable names I do not believe them the best for an online presence.

Look at some of the corporate giants online: MySpace.com, YouTube.com, FaceBook.com and others. While these may be brandable you also get a sense of what the website does, on top of that they’re catchy and fun. Let’s take other online brands into account: CheapFlights.com, Travelocity.com (”Travel-O-City” hmmm..), Shopzilla.com, OverStock.com etc.. These names are more on target as to what the company does.

I believe that the domain should match your goals, if you are looking to start a video site on music videos than something a little more brandable would do fine. On the other hand, if you’re selling posters online catchy is good but you want the name to describe what you do, a domain name is the first thing your prospects see so it is best served describing your intent! In this case, PosterMart.com might be a better fit SEO and intent wise than Ploosh.com .

Discreet Domain Broker

I was recently asked of a friend, “Why would someone use your services rather than simply approaching the domain owner themselves?”. While the answer might seem obvious to me I realized that the answer might not be so obvious to others, especially since 99% of my clients and the companies I target are not in the domain name industry. A domain name broker can be an asset for numerous reasons but I will speak on being a consultant, discreet and attaining the right price.

As I said before you the end user are not in the domain name industry and I am assuming not in SEO, like anything else if you want the best domain name you should speak with the most up to date and informed in the field. NameConnect can act as an advisor, we take into consideration your business model, product and how relevant a domain will be to your customers and the search engine. We give free consultations so at least let us know what you have in mind and we will assist you to the best of our abilities.

Many generic domains are held by individuals such as myself, we see these names as investments and like any investment the overall goal is to ring in a substantial return. I recently read about Microsoft using a service like mine to acquire Office.com, the reason being that if the owners of Office.com had known who the buyer was they would have asked for ten times the money. While domain owners expect a great return on investment who is asking for a price can greatly determine what the selling price is. NameConnect.com has the contacts in the industry to get the right domain for the right price, let us know your budget and we can help.

In the end, it helps to boost your new project by announcing the purchase of your new name in a press release of sorts but be discreet when seeking it out! There are six points of separation, NameConnect can cut down those points and acquire that domain you want!
